Take the Bernina railway to the Hospiz station. From here a gravel path takes you up to the pass road that leads down towards the entrance to the trail for Pontresina. A steep gravel road brings you to the base station of Diavolezza ski area and Pontresina. The next train will take you back up the mountain to the Bernina Hospiz station. This time round you continue above the avalanche protection of the Bernina railway and down a steep gravel path into the first larches where you begin to feel the influence of the southern climate. The tour continues to Cavaglia where the real biking fun begins. A technical trail - if you were to ride this stretch one hundred times every ride would be different.
